Brewery Closes Due To COVID-19 Lockdown
Big Cat Brewing served its last brew in a county with no reported coronavirus deaths
The Big Cat Brewing Co. announced Tuesday on Facebook that it was closing due to the COVID-19 epidemic lockdown. The establishment is located in Cedar in Leelanau County, which has had nine coronavirus cases and no reported deaths as of May 12.
“After much consideration and deep soul searching, we have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to reopen and continue our business of 14 years. With now losing Memorial Day weekend and no guarantee of being able to open at full capacity this summer, it has become obvious to us that our business operations are no longer sustainable,” the company’s owners Aaron and Nikki Ackley said in the Facebook post.
