Facebook Police, Who You Gonna Call?
Mainstream pushback to lockdown growing
The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office has posted on its Facebook page that it will not enforce Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders.
“ … I have decided, within my authority, that our office cannot and will not divert our primary resources and efforts towards enforcement of the Governor Whitmer’s executive orders,” the sheriff’s office posted May 11 on Facebook.
This raises the question: Will the sheriff's post be subject to Facebook's recent policy of taking down posts it regards as in defiance of government guidance?
Facebook has made national headlines for removing posts from its platform that “defy government’s guidance on social distancing.”
MLive reported that Facebook removed a post promoting a Michigan anti-lockdown rally April 30 at the state Capitol.
