Still Waiting: Thousands Not Getting Employment Benefits Months After Applying
There are 11,824 individuals in Michigan who may be eligible for unemployment benefits who applied before May 1 but are still waiting for the state to approve their claim.
The state’s Unemployment Insurance Agency issued a press release Tuesday announcing that it has set a “goal” of clearing the blacklog by July 4.
The state said there are 90,474 claimants unpaid due to ID verification and may be “potentially fraudulent” and another 33,485 claimants unpaid due to “other non-monetary issues.”
