More attended nearby Houghton event than live in establishment’s hometown
There were 1,000 area residents who showed up Jan. 2 to support the Café Rosetta diner in Calumet, which has refused to close in-person dining despite a state executive order, according to the Daily Mining Journal.
The rally was at the Houghton County Courthouse in nearby Houghton. The restaurant is in Calumet, located about 13 miles away. Houghton has a population of 7,993, and Calumet has 748 residents.
