Over 400 Employees Leave Beaumont Hospitals Due To Vaccination Mandate
Federal government sending 44 staffers to assist
Beaumont Health suspended 370 employees in October as a result of its vaccination mandate, and another 70 quit because of it, according to Modern Healthcare. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is now asking for federal medical personnel to come to Michigan, citing staffing shortages.
The federal government is sending a total of 44 medical staff, according to the state of Michigan. They will be sent to various hospitals, including Beaumont Health’s Dearborn hospital. Beaumont, the largest health system in the state, has eight hospitals.
Michigan had 18,632 hospital employees as of 2019, according to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics. As of Dec. 1, the state had 4,268 patients hospitalized with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.
