Nearly A Million Were Unemployed In April; Down To 168k In Michigan As Of Nov. 7
The number of people in Michigan who are collecting unemployment benefits dropped to its lowest level since a coronavirus-response stay-at-home order was imposed in March.
There were 168,941 people in the state collecting unemployment benefits during the week ending Nov. 7. That’s down from a high of 996,374 on the week ending April 25.
On Nov. 18, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shut down in-service dining in bars and restaurants for at least three weeks.
Michigan’s unemployment rate in October was 5.5% of those working or looking for work.
