Michigan's Jobless Will Get An Extra $300 Per Week In Federal Unemployment Benefits

Federal administrators have approved the state of Michigan’s application to pay an additional $300 per week to Michigan residents receiving unemployment benefits. The benefits were authorized under an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on Aug. 8
An estimated 910,000 Michigan residents will get the extra $300 a week, according a press release issued by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The payments to eligible claimants would be retroactive to Aug. 1. The press release stated it wasn’t clear how long the program would last.
Residents who receive at least $100 in weekly unemployment benefits would automatically be signed up for the extra $300 a week.
