Michigan No. 14 In Closed Businesses Since March 1; Whitmer Declares Small Business Week
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has proclaimed this week as Small Business Week in the state of Michigan, according to a Sept. 22 press release.
On Sept. 17, officials in Whitmer’s administration issued a press release, stating they had cited 19 businesses for violating COVID-19 protocols imposed by Whitmer’s executive orders, and levied $51,400 in fines authorized by other laws.
According to the latest monthly Yelp Economic Average Report, since March 1, Michigan is the 14th-ranked state for the number of business closures this year.
The report tracks, by state, the number of closed businesses reported to the online business marketing website from March 1 through Aug. 31.
