Media Heavy Breathing Aside, 100% Of Very Few Juvenile COVID Cases Is Still Very Few
Beware reports with percents only and no actual numbers
The news site MLive published a COVID-19 case number story dated Aug. 11 under the headline: “Young children see greatest percent increase in Michigan COVID cases in recent weeks.”
The article does not state the actual number of children hospitalized for COVID-19.
There were 10 confirmed current cases of pediatric hospitalization for COVID-19 in Michigan reported on Aug. 11, according to a state hospital survey. The data does not specify the ages for the pediatric cases.
Since the onset of the epidemic in 2020, there have been 395 children age 0-9 hospitalized with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in this state.
Four children who tested positive for COVID-19 have died in Michigan since the epidemic arrived. A total of 884 children age 0-9 died in Michigan hospitals in 2019, the last year before the onset of COVID.
