Last Three Months' Jobless Benefits Nearly Match State's 2019 School Budget
The state of Michigan has paid out $11.4 billion in state and federal unemployment benefits to 2.1 million eligible claimants from March 15 through June 18.
To put that in perspective, the state's portion of the entire K-12 public school budget for all of the 2018-19 fiscal year was $13.0 billion.
