Governor Used State’s Emergency Alert System To Broadcast Face Mask Mandate
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer used an official State of Michigan emergency alert system on Monday to order people to wear face masks.
“Michiganders are REQUIRED by executive order to wear face coverings in public indoor and crowded outdoor spaces,” the alert read. “Businesses must refuse entry or service to those who do not wear a face covering (with limited exceptions).”
The state of Michigan website states, “The goal of Michigan’s Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a fully automated system that allows emergency managers to provide citizens quickly with vital information. ... All EAS activations from the Governor or his/her designee must be carried by all broadcast stations and cable systems."
