Lansing speculation: Lockdown to ease?
There is speculation among state capital insiders that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer may announce a re-opening for the Upper Peninsula today, including allowing bars and restaurants there to open. Whitmer may also lift her statewide ban on gatherings of up to 10 people, according to the speculation.
The Governor is scheduled to give an update at 1:30 p.m. May 18 on her COVID-19 plans.
Region 8 (the Upper Peninsula) has had seven COVID-19 cases since May 1, according to data as of May 17. The U.P. has had 101 confirmed coronavirus cases overall of the 51,142 cases in Michigan.
