Teachers in the Detroit Public Schools Community District had an average salary of $56,559 in 2018-19.
The salary information comes from a new report released by the Michigan Department of Education.
Last year, district administrators announced a new teachers' contract by saying it would give their employees the “highest starting teacher salary in Michigan.”
