Detroit Schools Get Clean Audit, Released From State Fiscal Oversight
The accounting firm that audits the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s annual financial report gave the district top marks for its auditing practices in 2020.
The firm, Plante Moran, found no issues with any of the district’s budgeting practices for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2020. The firm also reported that the two deficiencies it found in the previous audit in 2019 had both been corrected.
In October 2020, the district was released from 11 years of state-imposed fiscal oversight, which included control by emergency managers and a financial oversight commission within the state Department of Treasury.
