Netroots Confusion
A panelist at the "progressive" conference Netroots Nation is confused about some basic economic facts.
“The Mackinac Institute (sic) … has radically changed this formerly bright blue, formerly very wealthy, formerly Democratic state into this sort of sci-fi dystopia,” said Arshad Hasan, Executive Director of ProgessNow, which is based in Minnesota.
During the Jennifer Granholm administration, Michigan fell from 24th in per capita income in the U.S. in 2002 ($30,351) to 37th ($35,111) in 2010, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis. Only two states experienced worse growth in per capita income growth – Nevada and Georgia.
Under the Rick Snyder administration, Michigan has climbed to 35th in the U.S. in 2013. That two-spot climb was the 21st largest growth in the country over that four-year period.
